"...God sent His Son
They called Him Jesus
HE CAME to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior Lives..."

                        By Bill Gaither, Guy Penrod

Christmas.  We celebrate an amazing event, the birth of a baby boy in Bethlehem. Not just any baby boy, but over 2000 years ago the entrance of Jesus. The Son of God! The promised Messiah! Born to a young virgin, Mary.

Our celebration typically involves depictions of His birth place, a manger. We enjoy the likeness of shepherds, angels, magi and the ever present sheep and donkeys. Our contemporary observance of Christmas includes lights, trees, garland, carols and concerts… and we can’t ignore the candy, cookies and out of control shopping which are all a given at this time of the year.

            The baby boy grew..

                                                            Emotionally              (Luke 2:52)

            He lived a perfect life…

                        Tempted in every way

                                    Never told a lie

                                                Never cheated on an exam

                                                            Never disobeyed His parents

                                                                        Never gossiped about a “friend”

Never stole a candy bar (Heb 4:15)

Then, He died. An ugly death. On a cross. A spear in His side. A crown of thorns on His head. Nails puncturing His hands and feet. Even though He did nothing wrong!

He CAME to die. He CAME to give His life as a payment for our sin.
(Romans 5:8; John 3:16; I Peter 3:18)

My sin and your sin separate us from a Holy God. But God loved you and me so much, He allowed the death of His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sin… everlasting separation from God.

By inviting Jesus into our lives as Savior and Lord, we can experience…

                        Forgiveness of our sin

                                    Freedom from guilt

                                                An abundantly free life

The guarantee of heaven and eternal life.

                                                                        (John 1:12; I John 5:11,12)

“He CAME to love, heal and forgive”

He was born to die!

That’s why we celebrate Christmas. Enjoy tomorrow… in fact enjoy every day as you contemplate the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. HE CAME and HE’S COMING AGAIN!!
