Day 3 Women's Day, VBS & more
Today we had the Ladies Day. 55 women attended which was more than we had expected. The ages of the women ranged from 14-65 years old. Many of them were recognized from the outreach we did yesterday. Melanie spoke on inner beauty and shared her testimony. It really seemed to move people and some women were seen with tears in their eyes. In addition, the women made crafts and ate pastries. They left with a devotion and a bookmark to remember that it is about inner beauty not outer beauty.
Everyday we have been able to participate in the One Egg A Day program. Today, Diana gave the lesson and Braden, Damion, and Bella helped pass out the eggs. Every child was so happy to see us.
We had a fun opportunity to deliver and hand out celebration cookies to one of the schools.
The game today was an exciting relay. The kids were in up to four lines. They were all competing to get the ball down the line and back to the front before the other groups. More girls participated today than any other day. So it is safe to say that everyone enjoyed today’s game.
Today the craft was bracelets. The children placed different colored beads on a pipe cleaner creating their own unique bracelet. During our closing time this afternoon John shared the purpose of the craft. Each child created a unique and beautiful creation, just like God did when he created each of them. It was a beautiful reminder of just how special each of them are.
Today Bella shared the story of Esther. To keep the kids engaged, she brought up 4 kids to “play the parts” of Esther, King Xerxes, Haman, and Mordecai. There was a lot of laughter as the two unsuspecting volunteers playing the part of Esther and the King realized they were to play a husband and wife.
Because we completed the project so quickly we decided we needed to find some other stuff to do. It was determined to repaint and fix the old playground equipment as well. It is not going anywhere so we thought it could use a refresh.
