Electronic Giving Update

We'd like to express our thanks to you for the way you have partnered with us through giving. God has used your financial generosity to enable disciple-making ministries within the walls of our church, in our surrounding community, and around the world. 

We would like to share with you a change in our online giving procedures. Currently we have two online giving platforms. We are beginning to make the shift to move our online giving all to one platform.

Why are we making this change?

When we introduced our Mobile App, we introduced a second online giving system called Subsplash. This platform was very similar to our existing Planning Center that was being used for giving online but was designed for mobile devices. Since then, Planning Center has optimized their donation platform for mobile device usage as well. Both platforms will accept a debit or credit card, or you can set up an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) directly from your bank account.

The Fee Structure is Better with Planning Center than with Subsplash

There is a significant difference in the fee structure between these two platforms that Wellspring Church pays in order to receive your gifts, and the way the gift is given. With a credit or debit card, both platforms charge a percentage of the gift. This is the nature of electronic giving.

SUBSPLASH: Subsplash applies a sliding scale based on the number of gifts being given, plus a fee. A more significant difference is seen when we compare the EFT costs. While Subsplash charges a smaller percentage for bank account drafts, Planning Center charges a flat fee of $0.25, no matter the amount of the gift!

FOR EXAMPLE: A $100 GIFT

SUBSPLASH: $102.60-$103.20

  • Credit or Debit Card: Wellspring pays between 2.3-2.9% in fees for a credit or debit card, plus a $0.30 fee.

  • Electronic Checking (EFT): Wellspring pays between 0.75-1% in fees.

    This means that for a $100 gift with a card, we pay between $2.60-$3.20. For an EFT it is a smaller fee between $0.75-$1.00. These fees might seems small, but add up fast when you consider the number of donors at Wellspring.

PLANNING CENTER GIVING: $100.25

Compare this to a $100 gift using a Planning Center Giving EFT, where Wellspring only pays a fee of $0.25!  

WELLSPRING PAYS LESS IN FEES USING PLANNING CENTER. A GREATER PORTION OF YOUR GIFT GOES DIRECTLY INTO THE MINISTRY.

To put it simply, we end up paying significantly less in fees in the long run to use Planning Center’s giving platform when using electronic funds transfer, as opposed to Subsplash. Planning Center is also just as safe, secure, and convenient as Subsplash.

What does this mean for me?

If you are currently giving through Subsplash (most commonly directly through our Mobile App) We ask that you consider making the switch to giving through Planning Center, and take a moment to connect it to a bank account. 

How do I switch?

 There are a few simple steps to be able to do this.

 1. Remember to log into Subsplash and cancel any repeating donations that you may be making there. You will be able to access your Subsplash Giving Statement there as well.

2. Log in at wellspringcc.churchcenter.com and set up your giving using your Planning Center account.

☑️ Planning Center is a service we are currently using as the hub for our organizational needs, such as communications, volunteering, event registration, groups and more.


3. You will see a prompt to use a mobile number or an email address to log in.

4. Once you are logged in, you will be taken to a page that will help you set up your giving through Planning Center.

☑️ Please note that in order to set up an EFT directly from your checking account, you may be asked to enter login information for your bank through a service called "Plaid." This is so that withdrawals can be made automatically from your checking account on recurring gifts. This service is encrypted and Wellspring Church has no access to this information.

Will I still receive my year-end giving statement?

Wellspring will still provide year-end giving statements for both platforms, but we are hoping to have everyone moved over to Planning Center before 2022. Once you are giving on Planning Center, you will be able to access your statements at any time by logging in

Will I still be able to give on the Wellspring App?

Yes! Starting February 1, 2022, we will switch the link on our app over to Planning Center Online. You will need to sign in using Planning Center Online to be able to give using the Wellspring Church Mobile App.

What about Text-to-Give?

You will also be able to use text-to-give, and there is a guide for this online at https://wellspringcc.churchcenter.com/giving/text-to-give/help. Please note that the Planning Center Text-to-Give number (84321) differs from the text-to-give number for Subsplash.
